ASSOCIATE PRINCIPALs (APs) are where the rubber hits the road: structuring, leading, and performing the analyses and creating the recommendations that drive meaningful client business impact.  The AP is responsible for client projects and delivery resources, ensuring delivery that surpasses expectations and nurtures client relationships. 

Your primary responsibilities are 

  1. Client Management: Nurture and expand client relationships and identify opportunities  
  • Execute effective account management in line with ER’s market vision 
  • Be a trusted advisor proactively managing and expanding our client relationships  
  • Ensure clients business needs are clearly understood and that the solutions delivered provide not just what they ask for but what they need 
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities with direct and adjunct clients in line with ER’s market vision 

2. Engagement Management: Set the direction and execute, ensuring highest quality client experience 

  • Develop project scope & approach aligning to client strategy to deliver business value 
  • Consistently deliver quality client services and high-quality work products using ER’s IP within expected timeframes and on budget 
  • Monitor progress, manage risk, and collaborate with key stakeholders on progress and manage expectations on outcomes 
  • Be a thought leader for your clients, articulating a strong point-of-view on the role of business impact in digital strategy 
  • Ensure your projects meet ER’s financial and operational goals, e.g., optimize staffing, profitability, use of billable and non-billable time 

3. Team Management: Develop your team, and contribute to ER initiatives  

  • Plan, recruit, onboard and develop the next generation of ER consultants & leaders 
  • Be a role model and enabler for our core values  
  • Support firm capability development and initiatives e.g. events, marketing, service offering development etc. 
  • Contribute to ER’s IP library by preparing market insights, customer insights, whitepapers etc.  

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS 

Experience: Track record showing leadership & performance 

  • Bachelor’s degree: advanced degree or MBA is preferred 
  • 8-12 years of work experience in life sciences marketing strategy in a corporate or consulting capacity with notable depth of experience in digital marketing 
  • Outstanding track record of professional performance & leadership 

Skills: Analytical, problem-solver with executive-facing communication skills 

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen  
  • Proven experience developing/using structured approaches to address ambiguous business problems, motivating others, and gaining the respect of clients and colleagues 
  • Strong communication skills: processing & presenting complex information clearly and simply 
  • Expert in Digital Marketing Strategy with a focus on digital professional strategy for life sciences, including identification of high priority targets, business value drivers, and KPIs

Associate Principal, Innovation Commercialization

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL, INNOVATION COMMERCIALIZATION is a senior member of our Capability Practice, which focuses on developing new and innovative offerings  a key strategic pillar of Evolution Road’s growth. Reporting to the Commercialization Lead, you will help create an expanded set of innovation-focused offerings for our commercial Life Science clients. You will leverage insights and learnings to inform our pipeline and vision in partnership with our Consulting Practice, and you will be a critical partner who will help define, position, guide and deliver differentiated services to our clients in collaboration with the Commercialization Lead.

Your primary responsibilities are:

  1. Clients: Participate as a subject matter leader in Digital Marketing Innovation and Digital Health client engagements (Typically 50% of your time
    • Develop and translate POVs or Innovative Ideas into viable business opportunities for our life science clients 
    • Help develop and translate solutions & capabilities into repeatable service offerings
    • Develop IP via client work as subject matter lead
    • Provide guidance on program-shaping/contracting and engagement execution
  1. Company: Help drive innovation and new offering development from concept to commercialization (Typically 30% of your time)
    • Research & develop digital innovation strategies and solutions aligned to the need of clients
    • Validate and create IP, confirming value across multiple clients
    • Provide strategic perspective on areas of opportunities / POVs value to life sciences
    • Research and create content for use on social media and industry event
  1. People: Train, enable and develop our consultants as you support the process from innovation to pilot to full scale-up (Typically 20% of your time)
    • Package IP including Internal & External communication/marketing
    • Develop and deliver training material to build our consultants bench strength
    • Nurture and socialize new skills across our consulting teams to align with demand and new offerings
    • Proactively coach others on innovation areas as well as the key activities required to successfully commercialize them

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Engagement Manager

Engagement Managers (EMs) serve a very senior role reserved for industry leaders with deep skills and experience delivering digital innovation services to pharma marketing teams. For our clients and in our market, they build our reputation as thought leaders and ensure the work we do delivers tremendous value and impact. Within for our business they lead client relationships, develop revenue, manage company finances, and develop highperforming teams 

EM’s own our largest client relationships across a group of largescale clients. They lead teams of Associate Principals (AP’s) who in turn manage the consultants responsible for a portfolio of client projects. EM’s responsibilities include:  

  1. Clients: setting and executing the strategic visions for a group of largescale clients; aligning, leveraging and maximizing value of our services to the client’s needs and to ER’s market vision, typically 40% of time 
  • Plan and execute client account and stakeholder engagement plans with your teams, contributing thought leadership to current in-line and net new clients 
  • Ensure maximum leverage of existing IP on engagements and the development of new IP on high value engagements, capturing and sharing learnings 
  • Ensure the highest levels of client satisfaction with their experience of ER, meeting not only what clients want but also what they need  
  • Identify and manage risks and issues, proactively escalating as needed 
  • Ensure portfolio of engagements meet current year goals and are positioned to meet longer term 

  

 Team: Develop your team’s capabilities and capacity to fully support the needs of the business, typically 30% of time.  

  • Work with the Practice Leader to develop and implement top-down staffing plans for the practice, including recruiting, deploying, and developing your teams 
  • Coach team members to increase bench strength balancing demand slightly ahead of capacity to deliver the strategic mix of services 
  • Model behaviors consistent with ER’s culture and core values 
  • Create, lead, and collaborate on cross-firm initiatives to enhance our culture, transform our business, and deliver our market vision  

 

  1. Company: lead strategic progress of our market vision, business transformation and financial performance, typically 30% of time. 
  • Lead your teams to ensure the appropriate mix of services to advance clients along our Market Vision continuum 
  • Advance our market reputation as thought leaders through creation and delivery of high value content (such as market insights,  POV’s, whitepapers,etc.) for social media and  industry events  
  • Collaborate with the Practice Lead to execute business development plans to identify, qualify, propose, and convert opportunities 
  • Manage business controls including  forecasting, resourcing and prioritization of billable and non-billable time to build the innovation capabilities and IP offerings which align with strategic initiatives 

 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS 

Experience: Track record showing leadership & performance 

  • Bachelor’s degree: advanced degree or MBA is preferred 
  • 15+ years of work experience in life sciences marketing strategy in an agency, brand, corporate or consulting capacity, with 10yrs+ in-depth experience in digital strategy 
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with innovation and ambiguity and experience leading clients through the innovation journey to delivering results 
  • Distinctive record of professional leadership and outstanding performance track record 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and manage balanced consulting engagement portfolios of $4MM-6MM across multiple clients   
  • Track record of meeting financial, client satisfaction goals 
  • Strong proficiency at managing people and situational leadership 

 

Skills: Analytical, problem-solver with executive-facing communication skills 

  • Proven ability to lead teams, motivate others, gain the trust of clients and colleagues, especially senior personnel
